Alice Martini was born in Arezzo in 1981. She graduated with honours from the University of Pisa, where she lives now, in 2005.

She is teaching assistant in Modern History at the Department of Social Sciences of the University of Pisa since 2006.

She obtained her Ph. D. defending a dissertation on Italian foreign policy in the first year of the Second World War. With this work she won the national award for historical Ph. D. thesis assigned by the Foundation Spadolini Nuova Antologia in 2010.

She has been Contract Professor of "History of Relations between State and Church" at the Department of Social Sciences of the University of Pisa in 2011, and authored a research essay on English maritime blockade against Italy in 1939-1940 (A. Martini, Mare nostrum e non belligerenza. Il blocco navale inglese nel '39-'40, in "Nuova Storia Contemporanea", 2006, n. 1, pp. 67-84).

She is currently Professor of "Major Political Thinkers: Machiavelli" at CSU International Programs in Florence. She loves sports and music, reading books and newspapers.
